Your additions and corrections to my first chapter made it so much better. ... You have no idea how much taking your class has helped me. Being able to write is a useless talent unless it's believed in and acted upon. Thanks to you, I do believe I have the ability to write a book. What I've lacked all these years is courage and determination, and you have helped me with those, too. ... I'm really going to miss our "conversations," your wise advice and the will to succeed that you give me.

Course Description

Learn to make your characters live and breathe. Get inside their heads, know how they relate to one another. Write such full characters that their arms and legs stick out when you try to close the book!!! Learn their purpose in your plot. Learn who your characters are, and how they fit into your story. Receive tools for developing each character and learn how to turn them loose to write your story for you.
Course Outline

Week 1: The character sketch for each character. Do resumes for each character. Write up a back-story for each character. Where were they prior to the beginning of the story? What baggage are they carrying with them?

Week 2: What does your character look like? Who are they? Learn how to become intimate with your characters.

Week 3: Tools: What's his sign? The use of astrological signs in your character's make-up. Utilizing all of the tools available to you to develop a full, interesting character.

Week 4: What's in a name? What you've named your character and how it effects the way the reader perceives the character.

Week 5: Drawing from people you know...composite characters...

Week 6: Character Driven Plots

I struggled with these characters and plot was going to ditch them all, but you encouraged me to keep going, went above and beyond the call of duty to help me and stick with me. I mull over this plot and story daily and wonder what I can do with it that will be unique and fun and matter. Again, I have much gratitude to you for your guidance and instructions.
